Jake, Rescue Dog Of The Year.....

Been another brilliant weekend for fundraising and awareness, with the girls out both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday saw Nicola and Carol take the SHAK Tombola to our friends at the Sunderland Pets At Home. We always have a great day there, and yesterday didn't disappoint with a fantastic £182. Thanks to Nic and Carol, the staff at Pets At Home, and the kind people of Sunderland for once again coming out and supporting us.

Today was the annual Hillheads Dog Training Club Dog Show. The proceeds from the whole day are kindly donated by Brian and his team to us, and we have the added bonus of the SHAK Tombola too. The day itself raised a whopping £726 with a donation of £200 worth of food, whilst the girls raised a brilliant £154 on the tombola. It was great to meet new friends and see some old faces. The day is always great fun, and I have to say there is something special about talking to people, telling them the horror stories we face, and then having a happy dog we have rehomed there as proof. Speaking of which, I am very honoured to say that it was great to see a SHAK dog win the most important class of the day (well, in my opinion anyway) Rescue Dog Of The Year.

Jake came to us matted and the smelliest dog I have ever met. He scrubbed up well and moved into a great home with a fantastic family. Just as he was settled, Jake then had to have half of his bottom jaw removed through cancer, yet he is still just going through life with a smile on his face. He here is checking out his well deserved first place Rosette.

Thanks to everyone at Hillheads for putting on such a fantastic day, thanks to Joan, Sonia, Sheila, Elaine and Neve for raising £154 on the Tombola, and thanks to everyone who attended and supported the day. As I said in my "speech" we couldn't do the work we do and give these dogs the chance of life without your support.
