Finlay Starts Off 2014 In Style.....

I gave you a little taster last week of the first dog of 2014 to arrive at our doors (there's been a few more since so keep checking here) and as you can see Finlay as he is now called got us off in style!
Picked up as a stray, he is in appalling condition, not far off from the state Hope was in a couple of years ago. On the scales he was just 14kg's on arrival, and that included the fleas the size of green flies!

I'm delighted to say Sheena and Roger have come to the help of another Sight Hound when he so desperately needed it, and after a week of TLC his weight was already improving and up to 16kg's. He is also beginning to stand taller now rather than slouching, and he is beginning to look as if he is alive now too.

I think the saddest thing about all this is that none of the SHAK team were shocked either by his condition or the fact that he was even in this state. We have seen it all so many times before, surely it has to be time something is done at government level.

Finlay is now safe and in the best hands..... But I wonder how long it is till we have to try and heal the next emaciated Greyhound or Lurcher.
